ASME Sec VIII PRV Repair and Re-Certification

ASME Section VIII provides requirements for the design, fabrication, testing, inspection, and certification of both fired and unfired pressure vessels.

When a PRV needs repair, it must be disassembled, inspected, and repaired by a qualified organization, ensuring all work meets the applicable Code and Jurisdictional requirements. The repair process must also ensure that the valve's condition and performance are equivalent to the standards for new valves.

After repair, the valve must be re-certified to ensure it meets the original design specifications and safety requirements. This process involves testing and verification to ensure the valve is functioning correctly and safely.

ASME Sec I Online PRV Test and Repair

ASME Section I provides standards for pressure applications in boilers, including the testing and repair of Pressure Relief Valves (PRVs). Online PRV testing can be done through in-service testing, allowing functional checks without removing the valve.
